Tattoo and Crime
Her name is Joy (sure it’s an abbreviation but really her nickname). Relationship with her boyfriend was almost broken down. Why? She has tattoos in her slim body. Her boy friend’s parents didn’t like tattoo. Once time she talked to her boyfriend’s mom while crying said that “Yes, I’m a bad girl with tattoos in my body.”
So what’s the problem with tattoo, a design or marking made by the insertion of a pigment into punctures or cuts in the skin? Moreover, is tattoo a crime? Of course it is controversial matter. Some argue that tattoo once time was a mark of a criminal, but now is not a crime. But why many state institutions in Indonesia clearly require no tattoo for anybody who apply as student or worker?
In the other side, I’m sure so many youth in Indonesia don’t aware that tattoo has many implications in their future. “Sebenernyah sayah masih agak ga jelas juga sih sama masalah per-tattoo-an ini. Kalo ada yg tau, mohon sayah diberi penjelasan biar lebih jelas yah :),” said a girl in Semarang. At least, the youth will not be selected as a part of state institution, regardless they are very brilliant.
Whatever, it’s clear that tattoo still a stigma in Indonesia. Ironically the place to make tattoo and youth who has tattoo seems to be more and more everyday.
Will they face personal problem like Joy has? Even she thinks herself as a bad girl. Actually, she is a brilliant young lawyer and we hope so many more woman will be like her. Odd but real…
